Windows 7 Bitdefender VPN breaks the system

I love bitdefender. Hands down the best computer anti-virus software there is. So I have person who loves Windows 7 and does not want to use Win10 or Win11. Bitdefender VPN installs automatically which destroys the ****** Win7 system. hangs, will not shutdown, ****** nightmare. This problem continues to occur after I uninstall Bitdefender VPN. So yeah don't do that anymore please. Anyway like I said I love Bitdefender, but you guys need to create a filter to NOT install VPN on Win7 machines.

Thank you.

  • Tired of fixing this problem over an over. So very f*ing irritated at this point. You guys ROCK. So fix this retarded crap.

  • Hello @Ed_AITpro,

The standard VPN version is included by default in the Bitdefender home user products on Windows, Android, macOS, and iOS, basically all customers also benefit from 200 Mb/day of free VPN encrypted traffic per device, therefore it is necessary to install the app so the user can utilize the full functionality of the product they chose.

All Bitdefender apps are easily removable via standard platform specific mechanisms (eg for Windows, go to Programs & Features). In the event the issue you are facing persists even after uninstalling the VPN app, then it's possible that the cause lies elsewhere.. I can't really advise you here because I haven't used the VPN with Windows 7 and I don't know if there are any incompatibility problems, there shouldn't be, but then again, each device has its unique configuration, so there could be something else going on.

I would recommend to contact the Support teams to check what's happening there. You can get in touch with the Bitdefender engineers by choosing one of the contact channels listed here:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/help/

State your contact reason / choose request category, then choose from the available contact channels, chat, phone and email/ticket. Chat would be the fastest way to reach them.

Let us know how it goes.

I already have the solution > each time Bitdefender VPN is installed and the computer freezes, will not boot up normally, will not shutdown normally i delete the Bitdefender VPN from the control panel. Just getting tired of doing this repeatedly. I'm an IT professional with 30 years experience. I am also a Software Engineer and sell my software products. Additionally I have reproduced this problem on 3 different computers with Win7 installed. So yeah common denominator Win7. No one should still be using Win7, but try telling that to someone who hates Win10 and Win11.

Still, I think it should not have a mind of its own and reinstall itself like you've described. So, I passed this to the VPN teams to run some tests on Windows 7 (surely they must have a dusty copy lying around somewhere 😅) and check what's going on there.

    Thanks for bringing this up.
