I still don't quite understand why the "bdservicehost" process goes from using about 400 Mb of RAM to even about 70/80 Mb while using the computer. Why is there such a big difference in RAM usage? Couldn't it always use about 70/80 Mb?
I completely agree with @Nunzio77; furthermore, the link provided by Bitdefender Support below is not useful at all.

Cheers @Nunzio77,
I think you experience these RAM usage variations due to how the process manages its resources for different tasks. The antivirus adjusts its resource usage based on the workload. When your PC is idle or not engaged in tasks requiring intensive protection, it can reduce its memory usage. On the other hand, If Bitdefender is performing an active scan, updating virus definitions, or monitoring for real-time threats, it temporarily increases RAM usage to ensure fast and efficient scanning. This might explain the increase. I think temporary file cleanup, malware signature updates, system health checks, etc. might also cause brief spikes in RAM usage. If I'm not mistaken, Bitdefender is designed to adapt to the available system resources. If it detects that your system needs more memory for other tasks, it can release some of its RAM to avoid impacting performance.
But perhaps @camarie can share more insights here. π
Hi @Alexandru_BD ,
I'm not talking about short RAM peaks, but about an almost constant RAM usage that stands at 300/400 MB and in some periods of the same PC usage it drops to 100/200 MB and sometimes even below 100 MB. Obviously any user who has a PC with Bitdefender installed can notice this, it's not just my PC and this topic as well known is a source of discussion on many forums (even accredited ones) on the internet. βΊοΈ
Not much to add here. Also, a significant component is based on the various hooks, interfaces etc. open to the operating system itself to various events (process creation, HTTP traffic, file access, devices announcement, wireless discovery etc.). If the number of such events is relatively low, resources allocated stays also low, but every now an then spikes occur (the most obvious example being an installation of a program, or a Windows Update - in such moments a significant higher number of such events takes place, and Bitdefender analysis grows as well).
Thanks at all!
Wow...I can't believe it... ππ€©π
