When buying digital download at BestBuy, subscription starts when enter activation code (or when purchase)? Activation code is valid for how long?

My current subscription ends in 3 months. If I buy a Black Friday special now from BestBuy or other retailer, can I wait 3 months to activate it or my 12 months starts now?

Thank you. When buying directly at bitdefender . com the subscription starts immediately. Good to know that I can buy on sale now and use it later. Unfortunately BestBuy doesn't have the premium or ultimate offers.
