Hi,
Is the new scramble setting in the openVPN protocol obfuscated servers?
Yes, 'Scramble' is a recently implemented feature in the Bitdefender VPN, which ensures the traffic passing through OpenVPN is additionally obfuscated to resemble regular traffic, so that the ISP no longer flags it as VPN traffic, thus avoiding connection blocking. ๐
I assume that the scramble option in the openVPN protocol means obfuscated servers? Is this going to become available in the wireguard protocol as well or can you only use the obfuscated servers with the openVPN protocol?

What is the scramble setting? I assume this is connecting the VPN to obfuscated servers?
Hi @Alexandru_BD
Will scramble be added to the wireguard protocol or is it only for the openVPN protocol?
@Alexandru_BD yes but the main prb is that it bitdefender vpn reduces the speed a lot.. plz , make it a bit faster if possible . thx.
It's not that simple. There are several factors which can reduce the speed, but the good news is that there are also a few things you can try to speed up your internet connection while using a VPN. First, keep in mind that internet speed may be subject to some slight slowdown when using a VPN. This is due to the extra step created by routing your traffic through a VPN server. On the other hand, the VPN can actually make your internet connection faster, such as when your ISP provider artificially slows your connection in response to online activities like streaming, torrenting, and gaming. ISPs practice bandwidth throttling to avoid network congestion during peak hours.
A slow internet connection can cause the VPN to be slow, so itโs important to check your internet connection speed first. Bitdefender VPN canโt give you faster speeds if the problem is your internet connection itself. Run a quick test and check your internet speed with and without VPN, then compare the results. There are many free tools available online that you can use to test your internet connection speed (Speedtest.com, Internethealthtest.org, Fast.com, Speedtest.xfinity.com, etc.).
Furthermore, it's a good idea to let the VPN connect automatically to the optimal server. If you select a server far from your actual location, it could slow down your internet speed, as your encrypted data travels more.
Then have a look at protocols. By default, Bitdefender VPN is configured to automatically select the optimal protocol for your device and network, usually a balance of speed and security. However, some protocols are faster than others and some networks restrict the speed of certain protocols. For a faster connection, try changing the protocol in Bitdefender VPNโs settings until you identify the fastest option.
Installed applications and web browsers can stay connected to the Internet and take action even if you are not actively using them. These are named background apps. To increase your Internet connection speed while the device is connected to VPN, it is recommended to exit any unnecessary background apps, programs, or browser tabs that may be running in the background and using up bandwidth. So that's another thing to check.
Also keep in mind that Bitdefender VPNโs App Traffic Optimizer feature can help you tackle VPN connection slowdowns by prioritizing it to the app of your choice. You can prioritize internet traffic for up to 3 applications. Note: App Traffic Optimizer is only available on Windows.
So, as it can be noticed, making a VPN faster is not necessarily a tune that can be made for the actual app, as the VPN infrastructure is already quite efficient and very modern, but there are small tweaks and best practices that can enhance your network speed while connected to the VPN.
To add here, this thread is over a year old, so I'll close it. Thank you.
