As of the 14th Gmail is now requiring me to keep logging in. Is there a setting I need to change?

Hello All, I am suddenly needing to sign in to my Gmail every time as of yesterday the 14th. This is on my home PC. I spent several hours trying to resolve this inconvenient issue through reading others attempts to fix this. Problems of this type seem to go back for several years with various Gmail users unrelated to Bitdefender. I am looking for suggestions regarding settings on my Bitdefender to see if it is erasing cookies for Gmail. Many suggestions point to antivirus software so I thought I would ask here. Please advise if you might have any ideas on settings or personal experience resolving this.

Sincere thanks,

I seem to have just solved this by adding Gmail to be not cleared using [*.]gmail.com within the Privacy and Security page, Site settings in Chrome.

  • Hello @harleypower69,

If you're being prompted to sign in to your Gmail account every time, it might be due to your browser settings, or Gmail settings. When signing in to Gmail, ensure that the "Stay signed in" checkbox is ticked. To do a security check, go to Google Account Security and review:

    • Recent security events or changes.
    • Devices and sign-in activity.
    • Two-step verification settings.

After doing this, make sure your browser is not set to automatically clear cookies or history when closed, and disable any browser extensions that could interfere with cookies or sign-ins, such as ad blockers or privacy tools.
In the event you are using SafePay, or any secure browser, it may force you to log in separately. Furthermore, if you're using a VPN, it could be causing Google to flag logins from different locations as suspicious. Try disabling the VPN temporarily, or change the server.
It's also worth checking if your browser is up to date, because compatibility issues can cause session disruptions.

After checking these settings, restart your browser and try signing in to Gmail again.
Let me know if the issue persists.

    Regards,

    Alex
