Can it be a malware

I downloaded Urban VPN (featured on Chrome), but it secretly tried to open some malicious pages. Although they weren’t displayed, I don’t know if Bitdefender blocked those pages or if Urban VPN managed to open them entirely in the background. My notification menu was flooded with Bitdefender alerts.
I immediately ran a quick scan, followed by a full system scan. I then uninstalled Chrome using Revo Uninstaller Pro, ensuring all leftovers were removed, restarted the PC, and reinstalled Chrome. Later, when I opened Brave, the browser displayed a strange message asking about enabling or removing Internet Download Manager (IDM). This was odd because IDM was installed and already disabled in Brave, and I’d never received such a prompt before.
Suspecting malware, I ran another system scan. However, I stopped the scan after 3 minutes and restarted it. The strange part was that the system scan completed in just 3 minutes when it typically takes 17 minutes. Could this be malware?
This was the hidden malicious attack ( insane notifications )
If a system scan is stopped and restarted within a couple of minutes, does it rescan the files that were already scanned in the recently stopped scan?

Hi @Rock.87
I'll answer with what I know to offer, then let Flexx or Alexandru follow up as desired :)
The System Scan will not start where you left off if you stopped and restarted it, it will start the scan process over, but will not scan the cached or indexed files from the previous scan i.e. files that were not changed or modified. If files had been changed/modified by malware, BD would rescan those files (i.e. they were modified). In pausing a scan, it would obviously continue where you left off.
As far as something as targeted as a browser extension, again, Flexx can follow-up with that, but I would run Norton Power Eraser, which is a on demand scan and does not install a running app. and I would also run the ESET online scan as well, just to be sure.
Kind regards.
