Overseas and tried to access Netflix when using VPN set to home country but not working. Help!

I will be overseas for a few months. I have Bitdefender VPN installed. I set location to my home country, Australia. I turned off the VPN. Both results were the same with being unable to log in to Netflix. Any suggestions on how to rectify this?

  • Hello @Seefa,

Check if the steps from this article help:

As you may know, some platforms have implemented a system to detect VPNs and do not load or display errors if the Internet connection is filtered through a VPN. Netflix could be part of the same category, so I can't guarantee it can be accessed with a VPN connection, but you can apply some of the standard troubleshooting steps like:

    1. try other servers

    2. disable adblocker and antitracker

    3. a flushdns

    4. try another browser

    5. try another device, such as mobile

If these don't make a difference, then it's highly possible that Netflix is blocking the VPN connection and there's not much you can do to prevent that.. One option may be to change the protocol. Try to set IPsec or Wireguard in the settings of the VPN application.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks so much to both of you for responding. I had checked out that article, but problem not solved unfortunately. Netflix working on mobile phone but not on laptop with VPN active and set to home country. Will work my way through @Alexandru_BD suggestions. Once again, thank you.
