Purchased Internet Security for Windows and Activation fails

I purchased a digital version from woot and then when I tried to activate in Bitdefender Central I receive the error, "This key was already used to generate a subscription.'. I contacted customer support and Razvan B. told me to contact Woot. I emailed them and asked for a refund.

Looks like I will use a different software now instead. Any recommendations?

    Hello @Gregmt12,

That's correct, in the event the software is purchased from a third party reseller, they are responsible for the code delivery and also the payment process. It only makes sense because you have not paid Bitdefender directly for that license. Bitdefender Support can only issue a refund if the software was purchased from the official website.

There are of course many authorized resellers from where you can purchase Bitdefender, if you don't wish to order it on the main website. You can use this Partner Locator to find a trusted Bitdefender reseller in your area:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/en-us/partners/partner-locator

So, if you are still looking for a Bitdefender license/subscription, there are multiple ways to get one and receive a good discount in the process, since the website does display some advantageous prices at the moment, and I'm sure resellers may also have some of their own special offers.

Buyer beware: as it happens with any other popular brand, there are also unauthorized sellers out there, or unverified entities who claim to sell Bitdefender products.
They may sell the products cheaper, but you have no assurance that these products correspond to the local description. In my experience, it can sometimes happen that the licenses are not valid or have the correct maturity.

There are various offers available at retail stores on marketplaces, but please take into consideration not all of them are affiliated with Bitdefender and I strongly recommend the purchase of Bitdefender products only from trusted sources. This can make a big difference, because if the product is purchased from a doubtful source, it may not function properly, the activation code may not have the advertised validity and in some cases the Support teams are unable to provide assistance.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,

  • Woot sent me another code and I got the exact same message. I tried contacting support through chat and got AI assist that told me to co incognito mode and then asked me to clear my cookie and cache. I'll try that and then if it does not work I'm done trying to use Bitdefender and switching to Norton 360. Not worth the hassle, I am only out $12.99 so it could be worse. Already wasted too much of my time with this as it is.

  • @Gregmt12 it could be an issue with some of the activation codes they are using. It's not Bitdefender's fault here, the vendor should ensure that the codes they are selling are valid and can be activated without problems.

As for AI assist, the chatbot will seamlessly transfer you to a live representative for more complex cases that require human intervention, so it does't rely entirely on AI, you can actually speak with someone there. The Support representatives can check the status of the activation code and advise why it cannot be activated, and provide further recommendations.

I'm sorry to hear this was your first exprience with Bitdefender, it's really unfortunate because the activation process usually goes smoothly and doesn't take long.
