Ransom Ware?
Last Pass helpfully locked me out of my account last year. As I was using a free version I was not entitled to human assistance and the email account they had was defunct so it was apparently impossible to recover my account or export the data!
As I had a valid subscripion to Total Security I activated Passport Manager. However to my suprise this appears to have only been a free trial, athough it appears to be part of Total Security. Apparrently my free trail expired yesterday, although my subscription to Total Security runs until August 2025. Unfortunately, I had also "upgraded" to SecurePass the day before.
I was absolutely dubfounded and outraged to discover that Bitdefender was now denying me access to my existing passwords! How dare they steal my passwords, to my mind this is criminal and I am inclined to refer the matter to Trading Standards.
Now, of course, if a subscription has expired i would expect that I would no longer be able to create and save new passwords but to deny a user access to vital passwords is tantamount to ransom ware. I'm afraid the option to export data to a new password manager just does not justify this behaviour. I trust Bitdefender will review and amend this policy or they will be losing subscribers.
In the meantime, I still await a repy to my email to support to resolve my predicament.
