panicking about possible malware

Hi all,

I hope this is the right place to post. I am currently whipping myself up into a frenzy and close to throwing the laptop out and buying another as a result.

Nord VPN flagged up the website "retromotor.co.uk" as being malware. It did not do this until a few days after I had repeatedly visited the site however and hence allowed me access to the site prior.

I checked with URLVOID and they have also recently flagged this site as containing malware, alongside another I think on the same IP address (motoringelectric.com).

This website site has not been flagged up by my BITDEFENDER app at all. I have run BITDEFENDER scans and also windows security scans and they both have not picked up anything. BITDEFENDER traffic light is showing retromotor.co.uk as being okay, but I am still rather freaking out that I might have come across malware.

Would anyone know if I have anything to be concerned about i.e is this a website that has managed to bypass BITDEFENDERS security?

Thanks so much to anyone who might be able to help,

    Hello.

Only the anti-malware researchers at Bitdefender Labs can help you with the issue.

You should report the both URLs as false negative to Bitdefender Labs here:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/29358/

You could also share the VirusTotal link of the scanned URL(s) to the anti-malware researchers:

I believe that the both websites are clean, but wait a response from Bitdefender Support.

    Regards.

  • Thank you so much for your quick response, it's much appreciated. I will do as you suggested and see what response I get.

To add here, the website you listed is safe. Below is the scan results related to its JavaScript.

  • Hi Flexx, thank you so much for taking the time to comment.

Speaking as a real layman (or woman) here, does that mean in a nut shell I can start sleeping again and the site was indeed safe?

For someone who is keen to know what it all might mean should a similar thing happen in the future, what might be the reason why CDRF and Avira flag up something whilst all the other companies don't seem to have a problem with it?

Thanks for any crumbs of wisdom thrown my way!

    Kind regards

  • The websites retromotor.co.uk and motoringelectric.com appear to be safe based on security scans. No major antivirus programs flagged them as harmful.

Why Did CDRF and Avira Flag Them?

    1. Different Detection Methods – Each security program has unique ways of identifying threats.
    2. False Positives – Sometimes, harmless sites get flagged due to strict security rules.
    3. Recent Changes – If a site was recently updated or had a temporary issue, some scanners may react differently.
