Open firewall port

Hi, I'm trying to have "Open Hardware Monitor" app accessable on my local network but the firewall of bitdefender is blocking it even though I'm adding the rule for it to be ignored..

I've tried different combinations, with the network type, protocol, traffic direction, IP, ports… The application selected is the correct location as I don't have it installed anywhere else. When I turn off the bitdefender firewall the webservice is accessable from within the local network and when I turn on the bitdefender firewall the page is back to unreachable.

Hello,

Test with Stealth Mode OFF and see if the webservice is accessable from within the local network afterwards.

Thanks for the suggestion how ever with stealth mode off it still didn't work.

I tried the "Default application behaviour" as "Allow" and that works. But that's almost similar to turning off the firewall. I tried turn off the "Port scan Protection" and turning on "Use passive detection mode" but didn't work.

The Bitdefender firewall uses a set of rules to filter data transmitted to and from your system. Under normal conditions, Bitdefender automatically creates a rule whenever an app tries to access the internet. You can also manually add or edit rules for apps. As a safety measure, you will be notified each time a potentially malicious app is blocked from accessing the internet. Bitdefender automatically assigns a network type to every network connection it detects. Depending on the network type, the firewall protection is set to the appropriate level for each connection.

WIth "Default application behavior" you allow Bitdefender to apply automatic settings to apps with no defined rules. You can click Edit default rules to choose whether automatic settings should be applied or not.

Automatic - apps access will be allowed or denied based on the automatic Firewall and user rules.
Allow - apps that don't have any Firewall rule defined will be automatically allowed.
Block - apps that don't have any Firewall rule defined will be automatically blocked.

Thanks, I get the default app behavior. Setting it to “Allow” automatically blocks new apps, which isn’t what I want. I still need new apps blocked but need Open Hardware Monitor to go through. Adding a rule for it isn’t working. Is there another way to see why the firewall keeps blocking it?

Ok, I think adding a rule doesn't apply here.
On very rare occasions, the firewall may block the app .exe directly, but it has to be flatout malicious for that to happen. So, it's probably accessing something through the driver, like SYSTEM, in which case you need an IP exception, or a port exception, or both.
