Bitdefender Internet Security Protection (Windows 11)

The protection seems to be blocking log in to a couple of sites in Microsoft Edge that I known about - boots.com and bournemouthecho.co.uk. I can't work out where/how they are being blocked and how to enable the sites to work as expected. There aren't any notifications/warnings.

I did try just switching off Bitdefender Shield for a 5 minutes but that had no impact. I then switched off all protection (Bitdefender Shield; Advanced Threat Protection; Advanced Threat Defense; Online Threat prevention; Vulnerability; Firewall; Ransomware Remediation; Antispam). I could then login but then when I switched all the protection back on I couldn't login.

I also tried adding both sites as Exceptions for Online Threat Prevention but that hasn't worked.

I'm not sure what is causing the issue and would be grateful for any guidance.

  • Hi,

When disabling the security modules temporarily, have you managed to identify which one is actually blocking those websites? Because depending on that, there are some steps you can take to prevent this. Make sure to add an exception for the Antivirus module as well. I suspect ATD or OTP may have something to do with this, but then again, a notification should also be displayed in this case.. There's also a support aticle for this scenario:

If disabling the modules didn't help, I would have looked at the VPN or perhaps some browser extensions that could interfere, but since you mentioned that you were able to access those websites with all modules disabled, this leads me to believe that one of the modules is causing this, we just need to find out which one. And maybe report a false positive detection to Bitdefender Labs, so they can have a look and correct this, if necessary. You will also find the steps on how to do this in the above article.
