Split tunneling apps for macOS and iOS on VPN

I like that there's an option for split tunneling for websites on Apple devices, but I'm disappointed that there's no way to do it for applications like you can on Windows or Android. Some apps act goofy on a VPN and it's pretty tedious to go back into the app, turn off the VPN, do what I need to do on the app, and still remember to turn the VPN back on afterwards.

Flexx answered well here, indeed there's a system limitation on iOS, as such the developers had no solution in sight for this one, otherwise they would have implemented it, like they did for the other supported operating systems.
