bitdefender how do i stop the dashboard appearing at startup on a mac
Hello.
Same here.
After every start-up I get both the Bitdefender dashboard and Scamio open automatically. It's so unnecessary and did not happen with the previous version.
I even tried a complete reset of my Mac Studio (M2 Ultra) and installed Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac (version 10.2.2.2).
At startup, Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac does need to open in the background but shouldn't open both itself and Scamio.
Hello,
The product development teams are aware of this bug that surfaced after the latest OS update. The Antivirus for Mac UI opens in front at login in certain situations, and the engineers are working to correct this behavior.
Thanks for reporting the issue in the community.

Thank you for your reply.
Just to add that this issue still occurs with the latest Sequoia update 15.4
Although I have seen the Antivirus for Mac (10.2.2.2) dashboard screen automatically appear following a restart of my iMac (M1) previously, this issue is no longer occurring after upgrading to macOS 15.4.
Just updated 3 macs to 15.4 and it haan't solved the problem. Rebooted twice just to make sure.
So, just wanted to add some info that might help those who are looking into this.
I have the same problem with the Bitedefender Dashboard automatically opening on my MacBook Pro (with Silicon chip) but not on my older Intel macs.
Those older intel macs behave as I would expect them to and not open the dashboard at login.
The Silicon Mac affected was running Sequoia 15.2.
Updating it to Sequoia 15.4 then seemed to fix this for me on my Silicon Mac.
I also noticed the described problem with macOS 15.4.1. In previois versions of 15.x the problem was present as well.
Hello @Rally68,
We expect this to be fixed in the latest version that's rolling out since April 10:
This issue still happens on Sequoia 15.5 with Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac - version 10.2.3.4 as of May 14th, 2025.
Hi @DeloreanRacer,
Can you tell me if the problem occurs on the login screen, or after logging in, does the product open the interface?
Thanks
The app launches to the foreground after login. It isn’t part of my login items.
On acOS 15.5 the app still launches at startup in the foreground.
Bitdefender seem totally oblivious to any feedback from customers. They don’t really care and it leads you to wonder what else don’t they care about and is Bitdefender still worth buying.
As of June 8, the problem is still very much there. I'm running on a Mac Studio and MacBook Pro, both with Sequoia 15.5 and the latest Bitdefender software (Antivirus 10.2.4.4 and VPN 5.2.6.2).
Also, does anyone know of a way to not have the VPN always show on the Mac Dock? Takes up a "slot" on my screen unnecessarily because I can see it already in the menu bar. Optimally, options similar to those provided in NordVPN would be useful: Let us choose which (or both) locations the VPN icon should appear.
So, it would appear that mine is still doing this, but only under some circumstances, which might be where confusion is creeping in with some folk saying they get it and some not… and I just wanted to add some information that might help resolve this…
If I turn on the machine with an external drive connected, then I have the same problem with the Bitedefender Dashboard automatically opening on my Mac Studio (Silicon)… But I do not get the dashboard pop up if I turn the machine on without the external drive connected…
So, for me, it seems the problem exists when an external drive is connected, but not when the drive is not connected.
Hope that helps….

EDITED TO ADD:
It looks like having only a Time Machine volume attached does not prompt the dashboard to open.
So
Computer startup with no attached volumes = no dashboard popup
Computer + Time Machine volume attached = no dashboard popup
Computer + Time Machine volume attached + External Volumes attached = dashboard popup
Please see my latest comment… looks like the problem is prompted by whether or not an external drive is connected… might also be for some types of drives and not others…
Hi,
That's very insightful, thanks for sharing! 👍️
Hi… So, I am not sure this is 100% repeatable as I do get the splash screen opening sometimes when it is just the computer and the time machine connected… I need to look into this further to be certain…
