What happened to Bitdefender TrafficLight, the browser plugin?

Has it been integrated into Bitdefender Total Security, or is it still required as a separate installation?

I can see that network protection is working correctly—EICAR tests are blocked—so it seems that browsing protection is active even without the TrafficLight extension.

However, I’ve noticed that the Search Advisor no longer appears. The green checkmarks next to search results are missing on both Google and DuckDuckGo when using Firefox.

Has the Search Advisor feature been removed or changed? Or does it now require a specific browser setting or plugin?

Would appreciate some clarity on this.

Bitdefender TrafficLight for Firefox is still available and can be downloaded from here:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/trafficlight/

The Search Advisor feature rates the search results from four major web search engines: Google, Bing, Baidu and Yahoo.

So, the DuckDuckGo web search engine is not supported.

Could you please clarify whether the Bitdefender TrafficLight browser plugin is required to enable features such as Search Advisor and browsing protection?

From what I’ve observed, I do not have the TrafficLight plugin installed, yet the browsing protection appears to be functioning—dangerous websites are being blocked as expected. This suggests that browsing protection may already be integrated into Bitdefender Total Security.

However, I would like to confirm whether the Search Advisor feature is also built into Bitdefender Total Security, or if it requires the TrafficLight plugin in order to function properly.

Once I have a clear understanding of this, I’ll be better positioned to follow the appropriate steps based on your guidance.

You don't need the Bitdefender TrafficLight web browser extension if you're already using any Bitdefender consumer product, such as Bitdefender Antivirus Free, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, Bitdefender Internet Security, or Bitdefender Total Security. Its features—such as phishing protection, malicious website blocking, and Search Advisor—are already included by default in all Bitdefender consumer products.

Hello.

Search Advisor is part of Bitdefender's Online Threat Prevention module in Bitdefender Total Security.

So, you don't need to install the TrafficLight extension.

Thanks for confirming that this is built into Bitdefender and that Bitdefender Traffic is not needed. I saw this in the settings and I have it enabled.

The instructions to enable it in Firefox do not work and I still do not have a working Search Advisor.

Any ideas?

If you are not seeing the checkmarks, this usually has to do with the HTTP/3 (QUIC) Protocol, and you can disable it and test again. However, like it was mentioned earlier, DuckDuckGo is not officially supported, so the checkmarks may or may not be displayed everytime.

Search Advisor is basically a component that rates the results of your search engine queries and the links posted on social networking websites by placing a label next to every result. This additional layer of security is nice to have, because it warns against dangerous web pages before you access them.
But if you are not using it, this doesn't mean that you don't benefit from the highest level of protection available with Bitdefender, because the antivirus software protects you against cyberattacks through a set of features that scan different areas of your device. One of the features, Web Protection (Online Threat Prevention), is designed to scan all web traffic and block any malicious content, infected URLs, untrusted web pages, fraudulent and phishing links.

Whenever you try to visit a website classified as unsafe, the website is blocked and a warning is displayed in your browser. The warning contains information such as the page URL and the detected threat. In addition to webpages, Bitdefender can block online applications such as games, services, and tools if they access a harmful link or IP address in the background. You always get a pop-up notification “Threat detected” on your screen whenever Bitdefender blocks something.

Now, if you enable Search Advisor for another browser, does it display the checkmarks, so does it work for you this way?

Thanks for your reply. I used this instruction and changed the settings in Firefox. It doesn't work.

I also had a problem with the WebRTC plugin, which blocked the Bitdefender certificate on websites such as Google or GitHub. But the plugin was removed. The Bitdefender certificate is on websites in the browser. Search Advisor still doesn't work.

I checked in SafePay and Search Advisor works. I did according to the instructions for Edge and it works as well.
It doesn't work on Firefox.

I don't use Google search engine so I can live without Search Advisor on DuckDuckGo search engine, for which there is no such option :) But when I switch to Google, I don't have it.

Why don't you use a browser plugin, like most solutions on the market? Bitdefender Traffic does its job and when I add the plugin to Firefox I have Search Advisor. But I don't use it, since the Traffic function is built into Bitdefender.

I have four other plugins in Firefox. Maybe that's causing some conflict? Privacy Budger, Ublock Origin, Facebook Container
and a plugin from KeepassXC

Or maybe Bitdefender doesn't get along with Firefox again? :) This probably isn't the first time you've looked at topics on this forum ;)
