Webcam access

BD shows message: "A Windows Store app was allowed to use your camera."

How can I find out which app this is please?

As far as I'm aware, I don't have any Windows Store app that should have access to the webcam.

Many thanks.

  • Actually, I have just noticed that sometimes it says:

"A Windows Store app was allowed to use your camera."

    And sometimes it says:

"The Microsoft Teams app was allowed to use your camera."

Is it possible that both messages actually refer to the Microsoft Teams app, which I do have installed?

    Thanks!

  • Hello @COLINR,

Yes, I think that's the case. The webcam protection feature permanently monitors apps that try to access your camera and blocks unknown applications. Safe and trusted applications are automatically allowed access to the device webcam. An application is considered safe by Bitdefender and allowed by default to access your camera if it has a certain market spread and the majority of users have chosen to allow it. Obviously, you can correlate accessing a specific application for video calls with notifications in the product. If you have not initiated any video call, or have not accessed an application of this type, but you still receive a notification that the camera is being accessed, you can further investigate which application is requesting access.
Since we are talking about a trusted app such as Microsoft Teams, this was naturally allowed to use your camera, like the notification says.
