unknown file us013am.exe

Does anyone recognise this file?

c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3\us013AM.exe

It appears on my PC as a process (Ctrl+alt+Del) and slowly multiplies in the memory

Apparently it is an MIF Agent Application, whatever that means.

When I look for it at this address, it's not there, so I can't delete it.

CCleaner and bitdefender don't delete it / detect it.

    Hello,

That is not a standard Windows system file. It most likely belongs to a specific printer driver or printer utility software. Manufacturers sometimes place their own executables in the 'spool\drivers' folder. If you do not recognize this file as part of your installed printer driver, or if it is causing errors or suspicious behavior, you should investigate further, e.g., check its digital signature, scan it with your antivirus, or uninstall/reinstall your printer’s driver, if that's the case. The path “c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3” is used to store 64-bit printer driver files on Windows. It’s normal for various files from printer manufacturers to reside here. Printer driver files sometimes rely on additional executables to manage tasks like advanced configuration, printer status monitoring, or specialized printing functions (color management, two-sided printing, etc.).

The unusual name suggests it is part of a particular manufacturer’s driver suite. Common printer vendors (HP, Canon, Epson, Brother, etc.) often name their driver files using internal project naming schemes.
If there are any concerns regarding this path, you can check the file properties, so right-click on the file, go to Properties → Digital Signatures (if present), to see if it’s signed by a reputable manufacturer. Under the 'Details' tab, see if there’s a product name or manufacturer listed. You can also perform a system scan to check if the antivirus finds anything. Optionally, you can upload the file’s hash or the file itself to an online antivirus multi-scanner (e.g., VirusTotal).

If you know which brand printer is installed, consult the official driver download page or device documentation. If your driver version does not match, or the file is not mentioned, it could be leftover from a previous driver version.
As for MIF Agent Application, MIF stands for “Management Information Format.” It is sometimes used to store management data (like printer or device usage details) for diagnostic or reporting purposes. In the context of printers, a MIF file might include information about ink/toner levels, page counts, serial numbers, or user configurations.

    I hope this helps.
