Coming from Total Security I have so many questions...

… I am not even sure I will keep GZ BEST and might even go back to my previous edition, but there are many things that can be done, yet I also see this GZ interface as a huge learning threshold to overcome.

I do see advantages, like granularity and the ability to spot processes and allow or disallow them (had to do that just yesterday), but I also ask myself, where is the web protection that was integrated in all browsers, where is the mail client protection, or do I have that on the mail server now, but I have no mail server? I am also very puzzled about the device protection, ergo anything that is not Windows or Linux in my environment, typically Android or Apple.

Has anyone taken this step before me? Are there any dedicated writings on this I can dig in to? "In Total you do this, in GZ you achieve the same result by doing that?" - kinda reasoning…

    Hello @SecCon ,

You can submit a feature request for this case and if approved by the Product Management team it will be implemented.

    https://www.bitdefender.com/en-us/support/contact-us

Mainly the MTD solution is intended to work with a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution which provides this type of feature - app management (permission to install/uninstall certain apps and much more).

    Kind Regards,

    Andrei

    Hello @SecCon ,

The GravityZone solution is intended to be used for business environments this is why it has a higher level of granularity with multiple layers of protections, some of them covered through addons.

For Web Protection, this is done by the Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools (our security agent) but you will not have an browser extension which I believe it's the case for the consumer solution (I am not very familiar with all the features of the consumer solution).

To check the entire list of features for GravityZone you can review this knowledge article: https://www.bitdefender.com/business/support/en/77209-376322-features-by-product.html#UUID-16ac86fa-5ec6-0998-8579-0536bf5d783d

For the mail protection you have the basic protection for email from BEST but if you need something for servers then you have to add the Email Security addon or a license that includes Exchange Protection.

For mobile devices, you have another addon Mobile Security which can protect your phones and tables with Android, Apple or ChromeOS operating systems.

In order to start your learning curve I suggest you do the following:
    1. Check our onboarding documentation: https://www.bitdefender.com/business/support/en/77209-79432-getting-started.html#UUID-c0b01984-e528-777b-0975-99b7e9ef3fb5

    2. Join our free Masterclass classes to learn more about our features: https://www.bitdefender.com/en-us/business/masterclass

    3. Review our DemoZone which presents specific features: https://www.bitdefender.com/en-us/business/demo-zone

If you need any assistance you can always reach out to our Enterprise Support by phone, chat or webform: https://www.bitdefender.com/business/support/en/71263-85158-contact.html

    Kind Regards,

    Andrei

  • Thanks for that, I have regged to some webinars and will watch a few MASHTA Classes to become a good Jedi in BD.

Right now I am puzzled by the Network/Company view and such, but I guess it will sort it self over time.

Just enrolled my first mobile device to and gained access to Mobile Security Console and initially, while a bit complex, the process was successfully completed.

However, why doesn't MTD uninstall other versions of Bitdefender when installing the MTD App? I can understand that you may need to be proactive for other brands and apps, but not identifying and removing something from the same manufacturer? A sibling app, if you will… crazy..

And now I am also having issues actually uninstalling my Consumer Mobile Security app, but maybe it just need a bit of time after me removing the device from Central.

  • and true enough, after removing devices from Central we were able to remove the app from those devices.
