VPN Not Working in UAE – Any Similar Experiences?

Hello everyone,

I’ve been using Bitdefender Premium VPN package, mainly to make international calls to my loved ones outside the UAE.

Initially, I experienced some issues with the VPN not working properly here, but the Bitdefender support team was fantastic at the time and managed to resolve it quickly.

However, around 3 to 4 weeks ago, the VPN suddenly stopped working again. Despite multiple attempts and helpful replies from support, the issue remains unresolved. They’ve now stated that the problem may be caused by the local internet service provider, and there’s apparently nothing more they can do at the moment.

I’m reaching out to ask, is anyone else using Bitdefender VPN in the UAE currently facing similar problems?

If this continues, I may have to explore alternative solutions, which I’d prefer to avoid.

Have you also tried to switch between servers and protocols, or maybe even change your default DNS server?

Most users rely on ISP (Internet Service Provider) supplied DNS servers. While this is not inherently wrong, your ISP or network administrator can easily prevent you from accessing certain apps and services by blacklisting their domain. The good news is that you can circumvent this by changing your ISP-issued DNS server. Changing your DNS is perfectly legal, reversible and, unless your ISP has some hardwired limitations, it’s also a great way to circumvent geoblocking.
