Some Websites ONLY Work When Connected to VPN

Hi,

This one has been bugging me for about 24hours…i can only connect to certain websites (LinkedIn, BBC, Trainline and Amazon) when i have the VPN connected? this could be because im using a mobile phone hotspot/dongle rather than a proper internet connection.

is there ay way to disable this?

Hello,

It's possible that in some cases websites may be blocked by the ISP depending on the country they are located in, and obviously the VPN bypasses those blocks. Therefore, the location from which you are attempting to connect may also play a role.

thanks but I’m in the UK and in this case the ISP is my mobile provider. Could if have anything to do with exporting all passwords from Google PW Manager and putting them in to the Bitdefender one; secure pass?

No, there should be really no connection between them. I think the issue likely stems from how mobile phone hotspots and mobile network providers handle traffic.
ISPs may hijack DNS queries or return incorrect responses. VPNs override the default DNS settings, often using encrypted DNS (e.g., DNS over HTTPS) to ensure reliable resolution. Also, mobile IP addresses are sometimes blacklisted or flagged by content delivery networks, causing sites like LinkedIn or Amazon to reject the connection.
Another thing you can try is to set your DNS to a public and secure resolver: Google DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 Cloudflare DNS: 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1.
You can also test a wired Ethernet or standard Wi-Fi connection (if available) to check if the issue persists. This will help you determine whether the hotspot is the root cause. Bottom line is, this can happen for a number of reasons, including ISP-level filtering, DNS issues, or NAT limitations.

State your contact reason / choose request category, then choose from the available contact channels, chat, phone and email/ticket. Chat would be the fastest way to reach them. When contacting the Support teams, make sure to have the following information available to them:

The OS on which the VPN is running.
The affected account.
For functionality issues while the VPN is connected, whether the problem occurs on a specific location or all locations?
Whether the problem occurs only on mobile data or only on Wi-Fi or present on both.
App version.

hi,

I removed the Parental Control app and the problem went away immediately. i wont be re-installing that.
