can I ask if my subscription also includes auto renewal? Because once my subscription expires, I do not wish to renew my subscription anymore. Is there a way to cancel the auto renewal?
Hello.
That is correct.
Once your subscription expires, it will be automatically renewed.
Check part 7. Right to Use Bitdefender Solution. Validity. Payment Terms. Automatic Renewal. from this article:
https://www.bitdefender.com/en-us/site/view/subscription-agreement-and-terms-of-services-for-home-user-solutions
But, you can stop the auto-renewal for the Bitdefender subscription, by following these steps:
https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/29081/
Just follow the steps as described in Method 1, because some users in the past reported that the steps from Method 2 didn't stop the auto-renewal.
Also, from my personal experience, Method 1 did/does the job.
Regards.
To me it seems like Bitdefender is making the billing settings very confusing on purpose. I just bought a new subscription and tried to do this directly with Bitdefender (not via a third party reseller). I fell again in the trap and ended up with Verifone/2checkout. I cancelled the automatic subscription via Verifone/2checkout, as Bitdefender does not provide any help with that! And to me its strange (or probably on purpose) that Bitdefender does not provide any link what so ever from the Bitdefender Central to Verifone/2checkout page for billing adjustments.
Hi,
What makes you think this? Auto-renewal plan information and how to cancel + email cancelation support are displayed on each product page, and that looks pretty straightforward to me..
Also, in case you missed this part, further information regarding the subscription is displayed in the shopping cart as well, prior to the actual purchase:
You can click on that Auto-renewal link for more details:
Then, in the Support Center, there is a dedicated article that explains how you can set your preferences for automatic renewal (Gjoksi shared it previously), and also vendor information:
https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/29214/
There is no trap nor "conspiracy" here. If you simply do your due dilligence before purchasing the product and read the available terms to learn how to set your preferences and what the options are, then it should be really easy to manage going forward. 🙂
As it can be noticed, Bitdefender offers multiple ways of cancelation for the automatic renewal feature and displays this information transparently, and you can either do it yourself, or get in touch with the Support teams using the 3 contact channels available here (phone, email or chat), and they can do it for you. Simple as that.
