After installing Bitdefender (Win7), I get a blank page for a certain link

Dear Lady or Sir:

I have just installed Bitdefender Total Security on PC (Windows7).

All the websites I use more often open correctly, excepting this one: xexchange.com/

After accessing it, it displays a blank page.

I mention that I used this link very often before installing Bitdefender and I never encounter the ''blank page issue''. It was displayed as intended, with no issues.

Please, advise me.

Bitdefender Anti-Tracker and Bitdefender VPN are NOT installed.

As you can see from the screenshot, the website works fine for me.

Off-topic, but I think it's worth mentioning this, if you are planning to continue to use Bitdefender on Windows 7 version on the long run, be advised that Bitdefender will continue to provide antimalware support for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 until January, 2026. This means that Bitdefender security solutions can still protect Windows 7 & Windows 8.1 against malware, as long as they receive updates and support for computers running these operating systems.

Antimalware support refers to the ongoing security updates and support provided by cybersecurity technology companies to protect computers running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 from malicious software. When Microsoft ends support for a version of Windows, it also ends the development and distribution of security updates for that version. As a result, unsupported versions of Windows, like Windows 7 or 8.1 become vulnerable to security threats. It’s important to note that while Bitdefender antimalware support can help protect against cyber threats, it is not a substitute for the security updates provided by Microsoft. Antimalware software cannot fix operating system vulnerabilities that could be exploited by hackers.

As such, while antimalware support can provide an additional layer of protection, it is still highly recommended that Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users migrate as early as possible to a newer version of Windows to ensure that they continue to receive security updates and technical assistance from Microsoft, taking full advantage of the latest security technologies.

This is just something to consider in the future.

I uninstalled Bitdefender VPN

Unfortunately, I still get the same blank page.

I mention that all the other links I use more often work normally.

What else should I do ?

That's strange, the website works for me as well, no blank page. Try to disable the firewall as well (if your Bitdefender product has one). Another thing you can do, to find out if Bitdefender is indeed blocking the connection, is to add the website as an exception by following the steps from this article:

As for the Anti-tracker and VPN, there's no need to uninstall them, because you can pause protection for specific websites using the Anti-tracker extension settings, and you can always disconnect the VPN.

Let us know if disabling the firewall (if this applies) and setting an exception for that URL helps.

For the record, the URL is labeled as safe based on my findings when using Bitdefender's link checker, so I'm not sure if Bitdefender actually blocks it. I think if the antivirus was the culprit, both me and Gjoksi we would get the same result, yet the page seems to be loading properly for us.. maybe something related to your ISP?

Thanks for replies.

That website open properly before installing Bitdefender.

When I installed Bitdefender, the VPN was also installed. Then, I uninstalled the VPN.

It might be the case that the VPN modified something within my Internet connection settings, but I don't know were to check and what to check.

I uninstalled the VPN, as mentioned already. All the other links work normal, excepting the one I mentioned.

How to you advise me to proceed ?

Also, as the above photo shows, I don't have slides to activate / de-activate 3 modules of Bitdefender.

I understand. Those 3 modules don't have the switches displayed next to each other in the protection tab like the others, because they include multiple advanced settings, so multiple layers that can be enabled or disabled on demand. Check this article for steps on how to disable them:

During the process of temporarily disabling the security modules, you should turn them off one by one and try to access that website after each deactivation, so you can identify which module/setting is preventing the page from opening.
Once we know the module, we can look at further steps to try, but like I've mentioned earlier, setting exceptions for that website may also help, and also changing your DNS settings.
