Bitdefender should detect AI-based fake audio/video calls. That would provide great security and peace of mind to the world.
Hi,
Yes, the short answer is that Bitdefender is working on technlogies to help people detect scams powered by artificial intelligence, technologies that will naturally complement their already mature scam detection technology stack. They are also spending significant effort in educating users on how to tell AI-generated content. You might find this piece interesting:

Image generation is improving by the day and it's arguably past the point where it is possible to perceptually distinguish between generated (fake) and real content. AI provides excellent means for the creation of digital art or entertainment content. However, the advances in image generation come at the cost of also easing malicious use, e.g., by altering reality or spreading misinformation. To counter these harmful effects, deepfake detection methods are developed to discriminate between fake and real samples, and the security specialists are hard at work on the deepfake / AI-powered scam front. Their work is probably better clustered in three strategic directions. First, there's the research and development of technology to identify deepfakes. Secondly, as mentioned previously, Bitdefender invests in education and awareness programs aimed at letting internet users know about these complex threats and how to respond to such attacks. The third avenue involves searching for such fake content on large platforms, social networks and reporting deepfakes before they reach the target audiences, so more proactive measures. Bitdefender Labs has been keeping up with the latest modus operandi of cybercrooks who adapt to emerging technologies to scam and deceive people.

The links do not show that how bitdefender is detecting and protecting against deep fake, i mean if there is a deep fake picture/video etc , the installed a.v. should highlight a pop up about that ( if the detect deep fake mod is on ), it should also highlight deep fake related phone calls etc. it's currently blocking just '' private no , unknown no or the numbers in its list, it should detect and block it in real time.
Ok, maybe I wasn't clear enough. I will rephrase. Bitdefender is actively doing research on deepfakes and they have been doing it for a while now. I believe this addresses the question of what exactly they are doing about it — research & development, education and awareness programs, proactive measures of investigating and reporting. Pop-ups or other alerts about deepfakes are not displayed in the Bitdefender home user products, because such a feature has not been developed yet. The end goal is to be able to offer such protection in the near future, of course. Judging by the speed at which the research is progressing and the level of complexity it has reached, I think Bitdefender will probably include dedicated defense mechanisms for this at some point. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. 🙂
okie dokie comrade😋
Antimalware software is designed to protect your devices from malware. However, it can’t protect you from fake phone or video calls created using artificial intelligence (AI). These calls can sound or look like someone you know—even copying their voice or face—but they’re actually meant to trick you. Since this kind of threat doesn’t involve malware being installed on your device, antimalware software can’t detect or stop it. That’s why it’s important to be cautious if someone contacts you unexpectedly asking for sensitive information or money, even if they seem familiar.
