What protective measures does Bitdefender provide for its home users to defend against DDoS attacks, and what steps should be taken by both Bitdefender users and the average person to get secured from such attacks? plz do not rely on a.i. , i need the professional answer from experts. thx.

In a nutshell, to prevent that from happening you could take a few precautionary steps:

Watch out for suspicious links and attachments received via e-mails or messenger
Regularly update your devices with the latest security updates, this includes your IoT devices, not only your computer and phone
Install a complete security solution that protects your devices from malware so you can focus more on the things that matter
Consider running a VPN to hide your IP, protect your privacy and secure your data transfers

Now, these attacks are primarily targeted at companies and organizations rather than individuals. Companies and organizations are attractive targets because attackers often have a clear motivation behind their attacks, and this can vary from financial extortion, political or ideological reasons, business competition and sabotage, or even revenge and retailation. In contrast, individuals typically do not represent high-value targets, unless they are public figures, streamers, or involved in sensitive industries.

Normally, but maybe I'm wrong, Bitdefender proctect against DDOS attacks. There is this the module in the firewall : "Port scan protection"… It must be activated.

It could be Port Scan protection as you mention or I believe it could be stealth mode to help mitigate the DDOS as turning stealth mode on could mask your device (IP address) from being found on the network. I also found another one which is Network Threat Prevention in the Advance Threat Defense. But overall, I believe that these 3 does play a role in mitigating DDOS attacks.

I could be wrong, so will leave it to @Alexandru_BD for some insights as well.

I think all the comments are very insightful on this thread, and if you want a summary, I can tell you that for the consumer solution, the main focus is on protecting the integrity of the users' data and everything that is important to them. Like I mentioned previously, these attacks are primarily targeted at companies and organizations rather than individuals. Thus, they require a specific set of tools to defend against them. Of course, the Firewall might help up to a point, but even if it manages to block all the DDoS traffic, it will still exist and it will overwhelm the router, eventually
Now, if you are really concerned about DDoS attacks, a solution like Cloudflare for example provides robust protection against DDoS attacks through its global network and advanced mitigation systems. But there are many others:

My point is, you need protection in another area of your environment, and not on the actual device that's protected by the antivirus, to successfully repel these attacks.
