Update to the new VPN app?

I just sprung for the Premium version of the Bitdefender VPN for my 4 devices for unlimited traffic. I get a message to update to a new VPN app. I doubt I need the features (kill switch) but should I update and will it automatically apply to all devices (phones and desktop)? Or will it just cause me problems?
