I just found a feature in BitDefender that I did not know anything about, it was good, but BitDefender needs to let us know what it is doing in our system to avoid confusion and frustration!
I was working with moving files from an old HD to a new one, when BD warned me about a possible threat in one of my files. That os good and no harm since the file warning was a false/wrong warning, but it was ok since I did not need that file anyway.
But what I did not know (and BD did not tell me) was that BD locked me from doing any changes in my filesystem. I found that out an hour later when I tried to access one folder that is hidden on my system, and I could not change the settings to show hidden files and folders in Windows settings, when I changed it, the folder was still hidden. At first, I thought the folder had been deleted, but I checked the settings, and it was back to not showing hidden files and folders, I tried to change it several times without success.
Remembering the false warning from BD earlier, I looked first to see if I could find any setting in BD about this topic but did not find any.
So, I went to the BD forum here and tried find anything and found an old posting about something like this but not exactly, anyway it said to restart the computer. So, I did that and now everything is back to normal.
But now I am irritated by the lack of information that BD did not give me about taking control over my system! It looks like it would be easy to in a pop-up from BD inform mee that to fix the system back to normal you must restart the computer. It said something about restarting but since the file that gave the false warning was not deleted, quarantined or no info about what had happened to the file (I deleted it myself since I did not need it), I did not know that it was mandatory to restart the computer. A few words about that and I did not have to worry about it, just restart and everything is fine!
This is just information and a suggestion about helping us users!
