Do iPhones work as well as Android phones with the Bitdefender Mobile Security app

We have an android tablet and 3 android cell phones (Samsung Galaxy, various models). They all work great with the Bitdefender Mobile Security app. But 5 years ago, when we first switched to Bitdefender, my wife had an iPhone which did not work as well with Bitdefender. She is ready to purchase a new phone, and is weighing Samsung Galaxy S 25 Ultra vs iPhone.

QUESTIONS:

Does the Bitdefender Mobile Security app still work better with android phones than iPhones?

Hello,

There are some differences between them and these exist largely due to some particularities of the two operating systems, and the development and implementation options available. Bitdefender Mobile Security works well on both and the main functionality is the same, (although some features are available for Android only). When it comes to iOS, there is a limitation dictated by the actual operating system.

Web Protection on iOS relies on a local VPN configuration. However, this is not a traditional VPN that routes traffic through external servers for masking IP addresses. Instead, it creates a local VPN tunnel that enables Bitdefender to intercept and monitor network traffic on the device. Once enabled, the VPN profile allows Bitdefender to analyze the traffic data going in and out of your device. It checks for any potentially malicious websites, phishing attempts, and other threats by scanning the URLs before the content is loaded in your browser.
Unlike a full VPN service, Bitdefender’s Web Protection does not redirect your traffic through external servers for anonymity or geo-spoofing. It operates entirely locally on your device, ensuring your data remains private and isn't sent to third-party servers for analysis.
Since it uses a VPN profile, iOS may show a VPN icon in the status bar while Web Protection is enabled. And since iOS restricts the use of multiple VPN apps simultaneously due to limitations in its network configuration, allowing only one VPN tunnel at a time, the two cannot function simultaneously:

Now, you may ask yourself why the two products are not identical in terms of features and their functionality.
Because iOS is a much more restrictive environment (this also applies for macOS of course), mirroring the same in-depth technologies available on BMS for Android is not possible, due to the limited access provided to developers, or third-party software manufactures such as Bitdefender.
Due to limitations of the iOS platform, implementation of certain features that may be found elsewhere is not possible, as Apple holds primary functions in those specific areas for themselves.

Bitdefender Mobile Security for iOS is still a robust and efficient product, and it does come with Account Privacy, Anti-Theft, Scam Alert and VPN features, in addition to its Web Protection capabilities.

At the end of the day, it's entirely up to you what device to choose. For me, the iPhone remains my number one choice, since it hasn't failed me once, works smoothly and I'm very familiar by now with its menu and features, so it's also about convenience. Also, the materials used are of high quality, it has a really nice touch and feel overall, and its design is simply beautiful.
But again, I think this is a matter of taste and personal preference.
