I have the latest iOS build and recently within the last few days I cannot activate web protection. VPN is off please provide guidance. This is the same issue I had about a month ago.
Hi @Markjoel777 ,
I’ve seen this issue occur on iOS occasionally, and usually it’s not about the VPN being on or off, but rather a conflict in how iOS manages network extensions. Here are a few steps that might help:
1.Restart Web Protection Profile
Go to Settings → VPN & Device Management on iOS and remove the Bitdefender profile if it’s stuck. Then, re-enable Web Protection from the Bitdefender app — this forces iOS to create a fresh connection.
2.Check for iOS Updates
Some builds of iOS temporarily caused conflicts with VPN-like apps. Updating to the latest stable iOS version often resolves this.
3.Reinstall Bitdefender App
If the issue persists, uninstall the Bitdefender app, restart your device, and reinstall it. This clears any cached network configurations.
4.Disable Other Security/VPN Apps
If you have any other VPN or security apps installed, even if not active, they can still interfere with Bitdefender’s Web Protection. Try disabling or removing them temporarily.
From my experience, once the profile is refreshed and iOS is up-to-date, Web Protection reconnects normally. If the issue repeats often, it’s best to also report it through the in-app “Send Feedback” option so the dev team can trace logs.
Hope this helps you get it working smoothly again! 👍

Open the Bitdefender Mobile Security app.
Go to the 'More' section (•••) and tap 'My Account' to make sure you're signed in.
Navigate to 'Web Protection' and toggle it on.
Hi @JOEi ,
Thanks for pointing out the basic steps — definitely a good reminder to make sure the account is properly signed in before toggling Web Protection. 🙌
From my experience, if Web Protection still doesn’t activate after following those steps, a few extra things can help:
•Permissions: Double-check that Bitdefender has “Allow all the time” permission for location and background activity. Without these, Web Protection may fail to stay active.
•Battery & Network Settings: Ensure Battery Saver or aggressive optimization isn’t restricting the app, and confirm that Wi-Fi or mobile data is on when testing.
•Update or Reinstall: Sometimes, after a system update, the Web Protection module needs a quick reinstall (or app update) to sync correctly.
•Central Account: Verify that the device is listed properly in central.bitdefender.com — if not, re-syncing it can solve activation glitches.
In most cases, once these conditions are met, Web Protection works seamlessly. If not, a clean reinstall usually clears any hidden conflicts.
Hope this helps add some clarity on top of your great tip! ✨
