I am currently using a Dell Latitude 3440 laptop pre-installed with Windows 11 Home Edition, system version 26100.6584. The C drive, which stores both system and non-system software, currently has 70GB of data stored and 93GB of available space. It also has Oracle VirtualBox 7, Macrium Reflect Free 8, and Bitdefender Total Security 27 installed. The D drive stores general files, with a total size of 70GB.
I plan to partition a 128GB external SSD into 80GB and over 40GB, with 80GB used for cloning the C drive system and 40GB used to create a Windows 11 rescue boot WIM file using Macrium Reflect Free 8. Additionally, I have a 32G U disk which originally used to create a Windows 11 installation drive via Rufus 4.7, over 5G of storage is windows11 iso.I plan to partition out 20GB for storing differential backup files of non-system software from the C and D drives via Macrium Reflect Free 8.
My requirement is: if the computer malfunctions and cannot boot, are there multiple methods to ensure Windows functions normally while also repairing or restoring the backup of system and non-system software? For example, firstly, using the cloned system of the C drive stored on this 80G external hard drive to operate Macrium Reflect Free and restore it directly to the computer's hard drive, then restore the non-system software differential backup stored on the USB flash drive to the computer. What else can Oracle VirtualBox 7 do to help meet my needs or enhance security?
I have already added three Macrium exclusion items to Bitdefender Total Security27's exception according to macrium's 2021 post,but the specific paths are slightly different.You may see it as follows.
If this solution is not comprehensive enough or partially unfeasible, please help me develop a more comprehensive solution, such as creating a Windows 11 rescue boot WIM on a 20GB USB drive, or storing a highly compressed system image or differential backup on a 40GB flash drive.
Since the free version of Macrium does not support incremental backups or encrypted backups, could you recommend some well-known free software with features which meet my needs, such as free disk and usb encryption software, or free SSD hard drive and USB drive detection and repair software?
If the solution is feasible, please guide me through the key settings, important parameters, and operational highlights to avoid wasting time or making major mistakes.
