Hello,
According to your experiences, can the installation on Windows Server 2019 with SQL Server be done with the complete package of all modules? Thank you.
Hello @Gianluigi ,
Yes, you can install the Bitdefender Endpoint Security Tools on a Windows Server 2019 as this is part of the supported OSes.
You can find the complete list here: https://www.bitdefender.com/business/support/en/77209-376327-endpoint-protection.html#UUID-118f83ec-8508-34af-2274-66b999e05776_requirements.sep.os.windows.server
You can also check the KB on how to install it using the standard procedure: https://www.bitdefender.com/business/support/en/77209-157497-install-security-agents---standard-procedure.html#UUID-170effff-9632-b83c-a39e-73ced372a748
Kind Regards,
Andrei
Hi Andrei,
thank you for the information.
However, I meant which modules to install so as not to interfere too much with SQL server. For example, I don't think the antiphishing module is needed on a server.
Thank you.
Kind Regards
You can install all modules and if you see any interference you can add exclusions for the SQL server. This would be the best approach.
Ex: https://www.bitdefender.com/business/support/en/77209-1180477-exclusions.html#UUID-3aa9da27-f8e8-b98a-fa39-0a54f4269c84
The exclusion needs to be added for the module that is impacting the SQL server, that is if there is any impact.
Alternatively, if you consider that one module is not needed you can disable it even if you have it deployed.
If I understand correctly, you suggest installing all the modules on the server and then managing the exclusions.
Is there a best practice for SQL Server?
If I want to disable a module in a distributed package, how can I do that?
Best
Usually each vendor provides a set of exclusions that you can check and add to the security software. In this case for MS SQL Server you can check https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/sql/database-engine/security/antivirus-and-sql-server
To disable a module you can do it so from the policy applied on the endpoint itself: https://www.bitdefender.com/business/support/en/77209-342918-changing-policy-settings.html#UUID-a3e4a6a4-743f-48f9-766a-f3850515367b
If you still need assistance you can also open a case with our Enterprise Support team at https://www.bitdefender.com/business/support/en/71263-85158-contact.html#UUID-3867147b-79f1-155e-cb22-0c21ee470e4c
