Could Bitdefender be blocking the download of WhatsApp APP from the Microsoft Store?

Hi there.

On Windows 10, the WhatsApp APP from the Microsoft Store seems to hang at Downloading.

All the other APPs are updating from the Microsoft Store .

Could Bitdefender be blocking the download of WhatsApp APP on my Windows 10 PC ?

Any idea on how to rectify this ?

My specs:

Asus X551CA

OS Windows 10 Pro 22H2 x64 With Latest Windows Updates Installed

OS Build 19045.6332

BD Total Security 27.0.54.271

WhatsApp 2.2537.51.0

I did a test and here is the result:

As you can see from the screenshots, the download and/or the update of the app work just fine, so i don't think that Bitdefender is blocking the download and/or the update of the app.

As per your query, I assume you are trying to download WhatsApp Messenger directly from the built-in Microsoft Store app on Windows. I have also downloaded it the same way, and everything is working fine. Below is an image confirming this.

Note: I am using Windows 11; nevertheless, even on Windows 10, when the Microsoft Store app updates itself, the GUI changes to the one available in Windows 11.

Well, we can try troubleshooting here. Please follow the steps below:

1) Reset your Microsoft Store app cache, as corrupted cache can cause issues with downloads. Visit the Microsoft support website linked below and follow the instructions provided in point 1.

2) Open the Run command and execute the following commands one by one:

temp – delete all the files in the folder.

%temp% – delete all the files in the folder.

prefetch – delete all the files in the folder.

3) If the issue persists, try temporarily disabling your Bitdefender product protection by following the steps provided in the link below, and then verify whether the problem still occurs.

What worked -

1> I loaded WhatsApp Beta from the Microsoft Store , ran that for about 24 hours.

2> Then, I noticed in the Microsoft Store that WhatsApp APP was available to install.. I installed the WhatsApp APP and it seems to be working fine.

I did no changes to Bitdefender.
