The SecurePass journey has been a bit of a rollercoaster with its share of ups, downs, and challenges along the way. The latest updates bring meaningful improvements across the board and are designed to give users more control, a better experience and peace of mind.
Below, you’ll find the highlights from the latest releases which span several months of work, showing how we’re continuing to build on your feedback and move SecurePass forward.
Back in July, the development teams added the possibility of managing multiple items at once, moving and deleting items from your vault and folders. Some restrictions apply, regarding shared permissions and certain views, for instance you cannot manage items that are read-only or in the 'My Vault' search view. However, there are no restrictions when it comes to the folder search view.
More security checks are now included. You will notice a new section in your security report called Suspicious Services. When running the security report, SecurePass will also check if the URLs stored in your vault are potentially harmful (like malware or phishing).
Improved transparency on how the product works, right at your fingertips. For each view, you can find out more information about the actions available by clicking 'How it works' at the top-right corner of the screen. My Vault, Security Report, Sharing, Groups and Settings — these will cover all of them.
As long as you secured your account with a PIN, should you require a new recovery key, you can now generate a new such key from Settings. The old one will be deactivated.
Autofilling credit cards is now easier. When a payment method is detected, a modal will appear at the top-tight corner of your screen, displaying the cards available in your vault. If your vault is locked with the PIN code, you will first need to unlock it. The security researchers improved the detection algorithm for these forms, meaning it's now easier for you to make payments using the data stored in your vault.
If you wish to ask a question via the available feedback form, please remember to enable the new checkbox consenting for us to contact you back.
The product developers have also improved the detection algorithm for accounts, and this translates to faster autofilling on more sites. The algorithm has also been fine-tuned to exclude certain fields and forms, like the ones for newsletters.
Better PIN management — less prompting for unlocking your vault, so only when it is needed, when login or payment methods are detected on the page. You will see the best results after a new login and setting your PIN again.
Updated imports functionality, covering more options and running a security report on your new data automatically, letting you know if there are any passwords requiring your attention. The results will be available in the Security Report page a few moments after the import has been completed.
If you're looking for an easier way to identify your stored accounts, the website icons should help out with that. For each account, the icon for the website URL you stored will be visible in My Vault (or inside your folders). Same functionality is coming soon to the extension pop-up.
And if there are some accounts you don't want saved or updated, the option of "Don't ask again" on the account capturing modal was recently added. You will find (and edit) the list of sites for which you enabled this in Settings → Blocked Websites.
Enhanced security for your data when autofilling is also a novelty. When a payment form is detected, SecurePass checks whether the service is suspicious (like malware or phishing); if the result is positive, it will inform you via a modal displayed in the top-right corner. If not, filling your card data will proceed as before.
If you are using 2FA provided by SecurePass in any of your accounts, logging in to them has just become easier with autofilling 2FA codes.
Finally, the product developers also made other small UI and autofill improvements, contributing to a faster autofill and overall performance.
In September
they also refined and streamlined the login & unlocking your vault flow under the hood, for easier and seamless access.
