Online Threat Prevention - No info! [Known issue, WIP]

I'm told that a connection was blocked by Online Threat Prevention. When I look in the notifications, there is NO information aside from that something was blocked! What is the point of this? I don't know which site was blocked, what the connection was, or the actual reason. I've never seen another antimalware solution that has so little information about its actions!

Hi,

Normally, the notifications log should display more details. Something could be wrong there, because this is not how it's supposed to work.. For some notifications you can also click to expand the description. Usually, they include information such as:

Date of notification (e.g. 13 minutes ago)
Bitdefender feature that blocked the connection (e.g. Online Threat Prevention)
Name of the process trying to connect to the suspicious link
The reason why the connection was blocked
The URL blocked by Bitdefender

So, I'm guessing this is a bug of some sort. First, check if Bitdefender is up to date. Here are the steps to look for updates manually:

Secondly, if no updates are available, I would recommend reinstalling the antivirus. Also, have you tried clicking the "Add to exceptions" button to find out if more information is displayed, for instance the URL? This should be specified in the exceptions list when added and you can of course remove it later on. I would do this just to test.

Hello,

Unfortunately when I click "Add to exceptions" and put in my password, it plays a tone and the "Add to exceptions" button goes away, but no more information is shown. I have to actually go into Protection > Online Threat Prevention > Settings > Exceptions > Manage Exceptions to see what's been added (kind of sketchy that this excception gets added with NO indication what you've just excepted!)

Also unfortunately, uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling BD Total Security has had no effect on the Online Threat Pevention notifications —

I understand. I asked around and it looks like this is a known issue and work is underway to remedy the situation.
A fix will be deployed via an automated update, so there's no action required from your part. Should you wish to be informed on the progress, you can get in touch with the Support teams and they will add your inquiry to the list. Alternatively, you can simply wait until the upcoming update delivers the fix and I'll also follow up on this thread once the new build is released.
