Full System Scan = "Resolution"

Can someone please explain to me how to STOP BD from automatically resolving issues on a system scan. Just give me the list, what the detected issue was, and let ME decide what I want the program to do. It's not that I don't trust your software - because I don't.

I'm a 30+ year computer/IT hands on professional with more than a few years dealing with issues of system security and feel somewhat qualified to decide on my own what to do in my own computer. Which would also include deleting the file if I felt that it was warranted. But the software yanking something out of an older archive that MAY possibly resemble a current variant is not what I signed up for.

Any assistance in resolving this would be appreciated. The product seems to be reasonably good ( with the exception of the 'protected connection' that locks out everything else on the computer [ including the secure PW store - really intelligent ] ), so I'd rather not have to go searching for a replacement - again (BD was my second choice), but the behaviour noted above in not acceptable.

I understand where you’re coming from, especially with your background, it makes sense that you’d want to be the one making the final call on what stays and what goes. However, Bitdefender’s System Scan runs by design with an "autopilot” approach. It’s fine-tuned to automatically take action on detected items, particularly anything that’s clearly malicious. This is meant to keep the majority of users safe without requiring them to make decisions on the fly.

That said, I realize this can feel restrictive if you’d prefer a more manual, granular level of control. I think we need to keep in mind that this security software should also cover the security needs of users who are not tech-savvy, and don't wish to spend time analyzing each potential issue individually and make a decision, either because they simply don't want to, or don't have the required technical knowledge. And that's fine, really.
In time, we learned that the majority of users want to keep things simple, they want an antivirus that they can set and forget about, one that does its job quietly in the background, without disturbing them. The idea is to streamline the usage process, not to clutter it with additional steps for the user to take, when such things can be easily automated.
I think that such a decision-making process would put many users in difficulty and would create anxiety, if not frustration. And obviously we do not want that to happen.

My point is that we should always look at the bigger picture. The intention is protection by default, but I agree it would be nice to have a “list-only” mode for people who want full control. I’ll pass your feedback along, but I cannot guarantee that this will make its way on the product roadmap, it's a long shot if you ask me.

As for trusting the software, I think Bitdefender established itself as leader in the industry, and it doesn't beat its own drum, there's a long list of well-known companies, some even with billions of dollars in capital, that have entrusted their data and device security to Bitdefender. And I think that says a lot about trust..

Hope this provides more clarity, and thanks for sticking with Bitdefender despite this inconvenience.
