I have altert mode switched on so I can have complete control over what applications can and can't access the internet, for security reasons. Unfortunately, however, when activated, profiles will override the user and switch alert mode off (without warning). Although I never use profiles for this reason, a few days ago I realised I had accidentally enabled one and so I cleared down the rules in the firewall so I could re-add all applications.
However, I noticed straight away that Firefox is completely bypassing the firewall, without a rule appearing.
As you can see from the below, the only rules enabled are my VPN..
Alert mode is switched on…
Even when manually adding C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe and switching it off, it still loads google.co.uk…
This is breaching the security of my system.
This doesn't seem to be affecting other applications. I can't download my emails or use WhatsApp etc.
