I use BD Total Security on Windows 10 64 bit.
In Thunderbird you can save each email message separate as a .eml file.
Does BD not only scan the .eml file but also the content of the email stored in this file?
Hello,
As far as I know, the antivirus doesn’t just look at the .eml container, it parses the file structure and examines the email body for malicious links or scripts, also scanning any attachments embedded inside the .eml. Bitdefender uses its on-access, real-time protection to analyze the files for malware signatures and suspicious structures.

That is wonderfull news. Storing emails separate as .eml file is a great option. I configured Thunderbird that way and Bitdefender configured to do so.
