As a the son of a paying customer of your Bitdefender Family Plan, I want to report a concerning behavior I've discovered with Bitdefender VPN.
I've noticed that Bitdefender VPN modifies the Windows hosts file with entries pointing to:
44.237.64.185 geoip.pango-paas.co
108.157.173.88 1uzxr3b3jraw5nlmnvbsikiioud2vilw5.web-networking.com
104.18.29.59 ipgeo.wlvpn.com
While I understand these are part of your infrastructure for geolocation and VPN routing, the modification of system files without clear user notification raises security concerns.
Additionally, these entries were causing connectivity issues on my system until I manually cleaned the hosts file.
Feature Request:
- Could you add an option to disable this hosts file modification?
- Please consider notifying users when system files are modified.
- Provide documentation about which system changes Bitdefender VPN makes.
