I just installed BD on my Android phone and wife's iPhone. If I close the Scam Protection app, will I still be protected by a background app, or is the UI the app responsible for protection? TIA!

If I understand your question correctly, you don't wish to use the Scam Protection feature, just the Web Protection in Bitdefender Mobile Security? These features can work independently, however, if you turn off Scam Protection you will lose the following protections:

Thank you @Alexandru_BD. You misunderstood my (poorly worded) question. However, you did answer what I was asking. I wanted to know if there were 2 or more processes involved, a UI only process and a background protection process. If I killed the UI process, would that also kill the protection process? But, since it seems that there is only 1 process, killing it also stops the protection. So no, I shouldn't kill the display process.
