USB drive doesn't show even after updating anti-virus settings

Hello,

On a new Windows 11 Home laptop, I can't get Bitdefender to let me see the USB flash drive I need to use. I did the anti-virus settings "Scan flash drives" to "Disabled" and it still doesn't show. I could see it a few days ago (same USB drive) but now it stopped working. I need to have it always show flashdrives, otherwise now it's impairing productivity to an unacceptable level. Thanks

Hi,

Before we blame Bitdefender, let’s make sure the OS still sees the drive. Plug in the flash drive, open file explorer → this PC and check if it appears under devices and drives. Right-click Start → disk management and look for a device with no drive letter, showing as RAW, unallocated, or offline. If it appears here but not in file explorer, Windows simply didn’t assign a drive letter. Right-click, select change drive letter and paths and click add.

One more thing: rarely, Bitdefender may block access to the drive instead of blocking the drive itself. Go to protection select ransomware remediation and temporarily turn it off. Remove the USB drive and plug it back in.
If the drive appears, then this was the culprit..
