Need Premium VPN for travel outside home country?

I have the basic version of Bitdefender VPN on my iPhone, but I'm wondering whether I need the Premium version when I travel to Mexico. I live in Canada. Will I be able to connect to the necessary Mexican VPN servers if I just have the basic version?

Yes I think you should be able to connect to the VPN when in Mexico with the free version no problem, the difference between the free and the premium version is only that the free version has a 200MB a day limit and the premium version has no limit.

No you will not need the premium version in Mexico, the free version will then simply connect to a Mexican VPN server as with the free version you can only connect to the country that you are then currently in.

For example if you are in the USA you can only connect to a USA server, if you are in France you can only connect to a French server.

Thank you for your very clear answer, Petersl. The reason I was confused is because the Bitdefender manual says users of the premium version "can connect to any of our servers around the world," but it doesn't say that for the basic version. It says the basic version "allows you to connect to a single location which cannot be changed," and I didn't know how to interpret that with regard to an iPhone. Maybe the manual just says the premium version connects "to any of our servers around the world" to try to entice people to subscribe to the premium version!

You're right that the free version can only connect you to one location and that location will be the country you're in.

The premium version allows you to change the country server to any around the world that bitdefender offers.
