Bitdefender blocks google and maps, no VPN

Hi,

I start getting problems with google maps loading forever or at all. Google search many times dont load at all. I dont use VPN, tried several tips on turning off things in settings and no success.

Yesterday, I add Brave to firewall rules and added google maps in online threat prevention. After this it worked great, no problem. Today, I turn on computer, go to google maps and the problem is the same again. Bitdefender block or cause loading of the site forever even though the exceptions are still there. I wonder what else I'm supposed to turn off or add to make google sites working?

I also use Firefox which has the same problem.

I think it's a bit of a guessing game here, but I can recommend a few steps you can try. First, open Bitdefender and go to Protection → Online Threat Prevention, and temporarily disable Encrypted Web Scan and test Google maps search again. This feature inspects HTTPS certificates, and it can sometimes interfere with legitimate sites until the root cause is identified.
Secondly, if you use the Bitdefender Anti-tracker browser extension, disable it in both Brave and Firefox and test again. Some pages may stop working properly when Anti-tracker is active, and Google maps is exactly the kind of site that can be sensitive to blocked scripts.
You can keep the website exception in Online Threat Prevention, but also check whether there are any recent “Suspicious connection blocked” notifications so you can see the exact URL or process being blocked. That often reveals whether the browser itself, a Google subdomain, or another helper process is involved.
I think the fact that Google maps worked for a short time after adding exceptions, then stopped again after a reboot, suggests that the exception may not be covering the exact Bitdefender component involved.
