Glasswire Install Process Detects Malware?

Hi everyone,

I just tried to install the latest build of Glasswire, and it detected malware.

I want to upload it to the labs for analysis, but the file is above the size limit. If I scan the installer, nothing is detected, but if I run it, it detects the malware.

Is there any way to send to Bitdender? I am running Total Security on Windows 11 25H2

Same problem except I just want bitdefender out of the way. Glasswire is just fine. I had bitdefender run a scan on it using the file manager link and you, yes you bitdefender, approved it. Now you, yes you bitdefender, are standing on your own shoelaces and stopping me from installing glasswire that you already approved.

If the issue persists, you can open a ticket and ask the Support teams to provide you with a different location where you can upload the file for analysis.

I'm not sure what to think, if it's because I'm using BD AV Plus, or the fee version of Glasswire? This is a clean install of todays build downloaded from the Glasswire website. I installed it, let it run for awhile, did a BD Quick Scan and so far no issues. Maybe by now, it's been Whitelisted by BD?

So I'm not sure if the paid version of GlassWire is being installed, which has more Firewall settings unlocked compared to the free version, and could be the issue? I do know one thing, BD contextual scan was taking forever to scan the downloaded GlassWire file, I finally stopped it after it had scanned 38,357 files in 3:23 minutes?

Yes, I think there's more chance of overlap when running Total Security or Premium Security for example, because those plans include a firewall. In that case, the two products may both try to manage network and application rules, which can cause confusing prompts, duplicate blocking, or rules not behaving as expected.
I think AV plus paired with Glasswire should likely be fine. Because Glasswire can monitor traffic using Windows firewall mechanisms without fighting Bitdefender’s own firewall module.

As for the scan, I think Bitdefender was probably unpacking or inspecting the installer’s internal contents and resources, not necessarily detecting a problem or compatibility issue. Contextual scans of installers can count many embedded files, archives, temp components, bundled resources, etc.

Thanks, Alex, good post that covered most of, if not all of our concerns :) And since there really haven't been any follow-up posts for awhile, was probably just one of those things. It's happened with other AV's in the past on Malwaretips as well.
