Bitdefender activation code doesn't offer to extend subsctiption

I have a current subscription to "Bitdefender Total Security - 5 Devices" that will expire soon. I purchased a new activation code from Amazon, but when I enter it on the My Subscriptions page and click Activate, the only option is to "Add a new subscription". The activation code I purchased is for the identical product, "Bitdefender Total Security - 5 Devices". Can someone please tell me why this code does not allow me to extend my existing subscription? Thank you.

I would suggest you contact Support directly, as they will be able to help sort this out for you. Click on the Purchase & Manage Subscription option and go through the prompts until you get to the black Contact Support box. Chat support is the quickest way to get things started, and hopefully resolved.

We appreciate if you could follow up here with the outcome. My best guess is that there's still a difference between the two, in the sense that one might be an individual plan, while the other might be a license issued sometime in the past, and some features might have changed since. Because if the product appears to be identical, and the number of slots is the same, then this would be the only reason I can think of. A previous Total Security license/subscription belonging to a batch that existed before the individual/family plans were launched, and these really cannot extend each other.

I followed Scott's advice and contacted support. An agent was able to help by having me use the code I received to activate a new subscription. Then she merged the two subscriptions such that now I see an expired subscription and a new subscription with an expiration date that includes the remaining days of the old subscription. The old subscription showed that it was an "Individual Plan". The new merged subscription also shows to be an "Individual Plan". The activation code I purchased (from the Bitdefender Store on Amazon's site) did not specify any particular "plan". So I guess the question is: Will this continue to be an issue if/when I purchase additional activation codes? Thanks!

I think it mostly depends on the compatibility between licenses. Even with the emergence of new individual and family plans, there are still various license combinations and bundles out there, but nevertheless, extending the validity should work seamlessly in most cases. Sometimes, we may encounter corner cases or mismatches, but I think that's expected when you have a generous portfolio and so many different types of licenses out there.
The simple way to do it would be to subscribe to a Bitdefender plan online and simply let it renew itself. Sure, maybe you'll pay more, but you won't have to worry about searching for licenses online, asking yourself which one do you need, placing new orders, entering codes when the renewal date comes, etc. Just subscribe to Bitdefender, let it run and never worry about it again.
