I’ve been thinking about a small feature that could be useful in Bitdefender Central, especially for people using smart devices in home offices, shops, or small workspaces.
Bitdefender already shows connected devices on the network, which is helpful. But sometimes the difficult part is not just knowing that a device is connected. It is understanding where that device is placed and whether its location creates any practical security risk.
For example, in one small office setup I was reviewing, there were a few connected devices near the entrance area: a router, a smart camera, and one shared work device. At the same time, the space was being adjusted around a sliding door fitting, so it made me think about how physical layout and digital security can overlap more than people usually notice.
A useful feature could be an option in Bitdefender Central to add simple location notes or labels to connected devices, such as the following:
- Entrance area
- Reception
- Home office
- Guest room
- Storage area
- Shared workspace
This would make it easier to review devices and spot potential risks. For example, if a router, smart camera, or work laptop is near an easily accessible area, the user could quickly identify it and move it or apply stronger security settings.
It does not need to be a complex feature. Even a small “device location note” or “security reminder” option could help non-technical users connect digital protection with real-world device placement.
Has anyone else felt the need for this kind of feature inside Bitdefender Central?
