I've discovered that one of my Bitdefender quarantine files (.bdq) is very large, nearly 62 GB. Is it safe to delete it? Thank you.

I think that's an encrypted quarantine container for a detected file. Given its unusually large size, the original quarantined object was probably a large file such as a virtual-machine disk or backup image, a large archive, a database or mailbox file, a disk image, ISO, video, or other large data container, potentially an entire file that contained only one detected component. It could be many things. But the .bdq filename alone generally will not reveal which of these it was. Perhaps the reliable way to identify it is to open Bitdefender, go to protection, antivirus, quarantine and inspect the corresponding entry. It should show the original filename, detection name, date and depending on the product version, the original path.
Thank you. But, alas, this is an absolute b*gger. Bitdefender quarantine claims the file doesn't exist, and I've tried half a dozen files that claim to delete evrrything, none of which work. I guess I'll have to live with it - I'm just worried that it might be concealing something nasty.

I'm sure you tried a PC restart, to see if that helped. But no, you shouldn't have "to live with it". I would get ahold of off forum support and see what they have to say. Go through the "How to's and Troubleshooting" prompts until you get to the black Contact Support button, and start with Chat, as that can be the quickest way to get things rolling.

I'm not sure if running a "repair" would help, as that may still leave any Quarantine files or history in a folder, other than a complete uninstall and reinstall (using the uninstall tool, and manually looking for any leftover hidden folders).
'Fraid I took the easy way out - went into safe mode and was then able to delete it, so whatever it was, it's gone. Thanks for all your help. David.
