Network adapter after installing Bitdefender Free

Hi,

Since I installed Bitdefender free, the network card symbol in the taskbar remains a long time loading, slowing down the system a lot, but the network is already connected quickly.

Same exact problem on two different desktop PCs but with the same WIN 7 Prof. x32 and x64
operating system. With the previous antivirus this did not happen.

Does anyone have the same problem?

Any advice?

I think since the internet connection is established normally while the network icon continues loading, this could be a delay in windows detecting and reporting the network status, rather than an actual connection or network-adapter failure. Bitdefender installs components that inspect network traffic, and these are initialized during windows startup. On an older operating system such as windows 7, this may expose a compatibility issue involving the network driver, a remaining component from a previous antivirus, or one of the windows networking services.

First, confirm that windows 7 service pack 1 and all available updates are installed. Then make sure any previous antivirus was completely removed from the device, preferably using its manufacturer’s dedicated removal tool. Regular uninstallation can sometimes leave network-filter drivers behind. Download and reinstall the latest available driver for the ethernet or WiFi adapter directly from the PC or adapter manufacturer.

You can uninstall Bitdefender temporarily and restart the computer. If the network icon immediately returns to normal, I think this would confirm that the delay is related to the interaction between Bitdefender and the windows networking environment. If confirmed, perform a clean Bitdefender reinstall and check the behavior again.

You can also check whether services such as network location awareness, network list service, and DHCP client are set to start automatically and are running. If nothing here helps and considering that the same behavior occurs on two windows 7 systems, I would recommend contacting Bitdefender Support and providing diagnostic logs so the technical team can determine which service or network component is delaying startup. Please mention that the connection itself becomes available promptly and that only the network-status icon remains in the loading state.

It is also worth keeping in mind that windows 7 is no longer supported or secured by Microsoft. Moving to a currently supported version of windows would provide better compatibility with current security software and network drivers. End of support means that computers running these versions of windows will still function but will no longer receive security updates or technical assistance from microsoft, leaving them vulnerable to potential security threats. It’s important to note that while Bitdefender antimalware support can help protect against cyber threats, it is not a substitute for the security updates provided by microsoft. Antivurus software cannot fix operating system vulnerabilities that could be exploited by hackers.
