I have an active subscription for 3 device and recently purchased a new code for the 5 device version. Can i use this to renew/extend my existing sub early or do i need to wait until my current one expires as they are not identical?
thanks
Hello,
Since the two subscriptions are not identical, extending the validity of the Total Security (3 devices) using the activation code of the Total Security (5 devices) will not be possible. In this situation you have two options. Depending on the remaining validity on the existing subscription, you can choose to redeem the new activation code now and reallocate your devices to the new plan. In this scenario the two plans will overlap until the previous one expires. Or, you could wait until the current subscription expires. But there's a catch here: if the new Total Security subscription was purchased from the official Bitdefender website, your subscription starts as soon as you purchase it online, not when you activate the code in your Bitdefender Central account. This means that the countdown begins immediately after your order is placed, so if you don't activate it shortly afterwards, it will lose some validity until activated. If, however, you purchased a license from a Bitdefender authorized reseller or partner, then you may activate it anytime whithout losing any validity.
So, it really depends on the type of license/subscription that you purchased, and on the remaining validity of the outgoing license/subscription. Since you renewed early, make sure to disable the automatic renewal feature (if enabled) for the Total Security that's about to expire, so that it won't renew itself automatically, since you already purchased a new activation code. If required, you'll find the steps here.
I hope this helps.
