I have Total Security - how do I get back to Chrome on my Windows 10 laptop after 'Dangerous page blocked' -!help! -thanks , Linda
Hello,
Can you share more details about this, was a page blocked by Bitdefender and now you are unable to connect to the Internet, or what happened exactly, as it's unclear from your description of the issue? Before anyone can share advice on this, more information is needed. What do you mean by "how do I get back to Chrome"? 🤔
Thanks
Thanks so much for responding. I have multiple devices, both Mac & Windows. On my Asus laptop running Windows 10 I use Chrome. I had loaded Bitdefender Total Security & scanned the PC. One day I opened Chrome & it went to:
[url removed by admin] etc. all from yahoo.com. I DON'T use Yahoo???
So I ran another scan & went through the apps on my PC & uninstalled anything I didn't need or didn't look familiar.
But every time I try to use Chrome it keeps going to this website. But now Bitdefender Web Protection shows:
Dangerous page blocked for your protection
same website as above
Dangerous pages attempt to install software that can harm the device, gather personal information operate without your consent.
TAKE ME BACK TO SAFETY
I understand the risks, take me there anyway
when I click on take me back it goes to:
about:blank
but when I click on that it goes nowhere???
therefore, I haven't been able to get onto the internet on that computer for weeks.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!
and thank you, linda
Hi @lastminuteannie, Linda,
Are you able to get online using Edge? Did you uninstall any Chrome extensions that may be newer, other than the most needed ones, like your password manager?
In Chrome, even though a website won't load, are you able to see the right hand side 3 dots to open up Settings?
If you can, go to Privacy and Security - Site Settings - Recent activity. If that site is listed, click the arrow and Reset permissions, otherwise just underneath is View permissions and data stored across sites →, and clear Most visited and Data stored, Delete all data. Then in the normal Chrome 3 dot options, delete all your History. Close out of Chrome and restart it, and see if that helps.
Kind regards.
