No it shouldn't, it should skip files that haven't been modified or changed. @Flexx had a very informative post here. As well as @Alexandru_BD here.

You can also set Bitdefender to scan only new and modified files.

Shall those settings be applied on a system scan or these r for a custom scan? how about offline scan?

The setting should apply for all scans.
