Hello, I am running Bitdefender on Windows 11 and am currently locked out of a specific directory due to what appears to be a high-level driver file lock following a false-positive detection. During a recent software file transfer, Bitdefender flagged a specific application component as a generic threat, and the file was inadvertently deleted or quarantined during the alert. I am now attempting to reinstall and restore the application components. While every other file transfers seamlessly, this specific component is blocked on a kernel or system level. When extracting via WinRAR directly to the folder, I receive an error stating that it cannot create the file path because access is denied. If I extract the file to a neutral zone like the Desktop and try to manually copy it into the application directory, Windows throws a destination folder access denied error. I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
First, I added the entire parent directory to the Bitdefender Antivirus Exception list, covering Antivirus, Advanced Threat Defense, and Online Threat Prevention.
Second, I temporarily toggled off the Bitdefender Shield and Advanced Threat Defense modules, but the folder remains completely locked.
Third, I manually updated the folder properties and granted Full Control owner permissions to Everyone via the Windows Security tab.
Fourth, checking the Windows Resource Monitor shows that explorer.exe holds an active handle lock on the directory whenever the transfer is attempted, likely stuck in a loop from the initial real-time block.
Even with a Local Administrator account, the file system behaves as though a security driver is permanently denying write access to that specific file location. How can I force Bitdefender to completely release its low-level handle lock on this folder so I can successfully restore my files?
Thank you for any guidance.
